Visitors to an innovative
new car show at the Eden Project in Cornwall will be treated
to a sneak preview of the new Volkswagen Polo BlueMotion,
due to go on sale in the UK this summer.

The Sexy Green Car Show, set to run between March 30 and
April 15, is believed by its organisers to be the first
event of its kind. Featuring a selection of the most advanced
and efficient vehicles in the world, the show marks the
first public appearance of the Polo BlueMotion in the
UK.
The new Polo BlueMotion features revised aerodynamics,
a low kerb weight, hard compound tyres to reduce rolling
resistance and lightweight wheels to maximise efficiency.
These in turn are mated to an advanced three-cylinder
diesel engine linked to optimised gear ratios to deliver
significant gains in economy and a reduction in emissions.
The result is a combined 72 mpg and only 102 g/km of CO2.
The theoretical range of the Polo BlueMotion is in excess
of 700-miles.
Despite the keen focus on efficiency it retains high levels
of standard equipment. This includes six airbags, ABS,
electric windows, unique interior trim, a CD stereo and
an electronic trip computer to keep an eye on your economy
as you drive.
Gus Grand, producer of the Eden Project show, said: ‘It’s
great news that Volkswagen will be joining us at Eden.
These greener versions of already established models show
just what the car-makers can do to make significant changes
to the fuel efficiency of their vehicles.’
Since it opened in March 2001 the Eden Project, home to
the biggest greenhouses in the world, has attracted more
than eight million visitors.
